Artists share journaling techniques
Submitted By Lucinda Bender
The Fremont Art Association (FAA) will begin the New Year with two outstanding, award-winning artists and FAA Members, Grace Rankin and Kathleen Mattox. These artists bring a diverse and interesting program on Sketching and Journaling with Watercolor, Collage and Mixed Media. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 6 at 7:00 p.m.
Rankin and Mattox will share their sketchbook and journaling techniques with you. You are sure to be amazed and inspired to create your own artists' journals. Rankin will demonstrate sketching with watercolor and ink and share her travel journals. If time permits the artists will view your journals and offer suggestions. If you like, please bring your sketchbook or journal, black pen and a small watercolor palette.
Rankin is a versatile artist whose talent has been shown in a variety of media ranging from watercolor to oil, pastel, and pen and ink and mixed media. This evening demonstration promises to be educational.
Grace Rankin is primarily a self taught multi media artist with a current concentration in watercolor and mixed media/collage. Rankin has studied and been influenced by a number of well known professional artists including Charlotte Britton, Tom Lynch and Gerald Brommer.
Kathleen Mattox has a strong background as a teacher and educational administrator and is using this to her advantage in teaching mixed media workshops. Mattox loves using watercolor and collage to express messages using words and/or symbols in a semi abstract approach that is carefree but never careless.
Kathleen and Grace will be teaching together at the well known La Romita School of Art in Umbria, Italy July 13 -27.
