Union City Council honored Officer Daniel Roberts for 34 years of service on December 8, 2009. He became a Public Services Officer with the Union City Police Department in January 1975 and worked in the Animal Control Department, responding to calls for service.
Some of his calls included trapping and properly removing wild animals, responding to injured and dead animals and documenting and reporting animal bite cases. As a result of his experience, Officer Roberts is a recognized expert in animal-related cases and has trained other department personnel how to enforce statutes dealing with domestic and wild animals.
Officer Roberts was loudly applauded by the crowd as he accepted the resolution from Mayor Mark Green. When asked how he intends to spend his retirement, Officer Roberts replied, "I get to relax. I've done all my traveling, and I'm going to enjoy my life." |
