Bill Mancebo's player spotlight: Ayotli Gomez

This week the player spotlight finds Ayotli Gomez of Fremont.

This young athlete of 12 carries four years soccer experience and recently finished the season playing for the Newark House league Thunderstorms team as a right defender.

Keeping her up on her soccer skills is a priority for Gomez and she accomplished this by participating in a noncompetitive spring league for the FC Fremont Devastators.

Ayotli currently attends Centerville Jr. High, is in the seventh grade and looks forward to her math studies and lunch. Her favorite teacher is Mr. Jennings who makes world history a fun subject for her. She studies hard and rightfully so with target goal to become an attorney at law someday, that is, if she doesn't become a professional soccer player.

Ayotli's hobby is cooking and she enjoys baking peanut butter cookies the most. Those cookies give her the energy to play with her dog and ride bikes with her sister as often as possible. When vacation time rolls around she looks forward to a trip to Mexico for a stay with her grandparents.

The foods at the top of her list are mom's lasagna and her grandmother's tamales that are waiting for her on that next trip down south. When the main course is finished she won't hesitate to call out for her favorite chocolate sundae dessert.
