Chabot College forensics team scores in top three at recent tourney

The Chabot College Gladiator Forensics team brought home more than 22 awards and took third place among Community Colleges at a recent tournament at the University of the Pacific. Overall, nine of 12 students earned an award; eight of 12 brought home multiple awards; three of four debate teams advanced to quarter-finals or better and three students advanced in every single event they entered.
A Chabot College student has won the Novice Extemporaneous Speaking category in three out of four tournaments this season.
This was one of Chabot's best competitions. The individual breakdowns from the University of the Pacific Tournament are as follows:
Javier Kordi First Place, Novice Extemporaneous Speaking. First Place Speaker, Junior Varsity Parliamentary Debate. Third Place/Semifinalist Junior Parliamentary Debate.
Eileen Zedd Fourth Place, Novice Prose Interpretation of Literature. Third Place, Novice Dramatic Interpretation. Sixth Place Speaker, Novice Parliamentary Debate.
Shane Bond Top Community College Speaker. Third Place, Impromptu Speaking. Fourth Place, Novice Extemporaneous Speaking. Quarterfinalist, Novice Parliamentary Debate.
Fatima Ansary Second Place, Novice After-Dinner Speaking. Fourth Place, Novice Prose. Fourth Place, Novice Programmed Oral Interpretation of Literature.
Ricardo Ponce Second Place, Novice Programmed Oral Interpretation of Literature. Second Place, Novice Dramatic Interpretation of Literature. Fourth Place, Novice Prose.
Joshua Pauselieus Third Place/Semifinalist Junior Varsity Parliamentary Debate. Seventh Place Speaker, Junior Parliamentary Debate.
Toan Nguyen Third Place, Novice Programmed Oral Interpretation. Octofinalist, Novice Parliamentary Debate.

Lisa Nguyen Fourth Place, Varsity Prose Interpretation of Literature.
After four tournaments in the fall semester, 14 of the 16 Chabot students who attended a tournament have earned at least one award.
