Ohlone sports recap

By Giovanni Albanese Jr.

Ohlone College men's basketball entered their week of play on Wednesday, Nov. 25, having lost two in a row to close out their run at the Shasta Invitational over the previous weekend. That losing streak extended to three with a home loss to Cabrillo College, 67-64.

After a Thanksgiving Day break, the Renegades traveled to Gavilan College to take on the Rams. Ohlone was able to regroup and bounce back from its three-game slide with a 13-point victory, 90-77.

With the 1-1 week, Ohlone moved its record to 6-3 on the year. Next up for the Renegades is a home contest on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 3 p.m. against West Valley College.

As for the Lady Renegades, they entered their week of play with only one game on the schedule, looking to improve to 2-1 on the season. And when they hosted Foothill College on Tuesday, Nov. 24, they were able to do just that, as they squeaked out a 63-62 overtime victory.

Jasmine Rubin led the way for Ohlone, putting in 22 points while pulling down six rebounds. Ashley Valenzuela (13 pts.), Ganeaya Rogers (10 rebs.) and Beatrice Conejero (12 pts.) helped secure the win for the Lady Renegades.

Looking ahead, Ohlone won't step back on the floor until December 10 when they head to Santa Rosa for the college's three-day tournament.
