James Logan High School, under the direction of Coach Frank Borghi, are now 2-0 in the young 2009-2010 girls basketball season. They handily defeated Freedom High School, 54-37, on the road Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Leading the Colts were senior forward Erinn Jones, 16 points, and junior guard Chelsea Salom, 15 points. Other Logan scorers were Jazmine Reed, 6; Rose Tahaafe, 5; Nikki Icban and Danielle Ioramo, both with 4; Lauren Paguirigan, 3; and Camille De Leon, 1.

In other action, Newark Memorial High School hosted Hayward High School on Friday, Nov. 27, with the host Cougars prevailing 56-50. Leading the Cougars were Chaunise Powell and Franchesca Ruta, 17 points each, and Misha Hicks, 12.

For the Farmers, top scorers were Nailah Davis, 14 points, and Briyana Clark, 10.

Games on Saturday, Nov. 28, saw American High School defeat Castro Valley High School, 55-50, at American; and Mission San Jose High School hosted and defeated College Park High School, 65-37.

On the boys side, games played on November 28: John F. Kennedy High School traveled to Granada High School and were defeated, 47-44; Newark Memorial hosted Castro Valley with the Cougars pulling of a one-point victory, 52-51.
