Centerville Tree Lighting rings in the holiday season
Santa and Mrs. Claus ride the rails to Centerville

For a setting befitting the holiday season, Centerville Business and Community Association presents its annual festive tree lighting at the historic Centerville Depot. This magical holiday event will usher in the holidays with festive decorations, twinkling lights and a magical entrance by Santa Claus.
Centerville Business and Community Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the economic and social welfare of the Centerville District of the City of Fremont. Fremont resident, community activist and long-time association member Gary King, originally planted the Holiday Tree in 2001. The tenth annual event is sponsored by Tri-City Voice, Fremont Flowers, Dale Hardware and Available Self Storage.
Raffle prizes, free hot coffee, cookies and hot chocolate promise fun for the entire family. Festivities will feature live performances by 'What the Dickens?' The sing-along of holiday tunes and sounds of the season will fill the air as the group dressed up in Dickens era outfits will entertain the crowd with Christmas carols.
"There will be more singers at this event. Watch out for Kim and Aimee for a Blue Grass Christmas," said Billy Cripple who with wife Debbie manage Available Self Storage. The Cripple duo has been known to mysteriously disappear when Mr. & Mrs. Claus arrive on the scene. Hmm...
Speaking of Santa and Mrs. Claus, they have promised to appear in Centerville on Sunday for the tree lighting. Although their busy schedule has forced them to be absent in some previous years, they have committed to arrive by train at 4:44 p.m. this year. "Santa needs help from children to light the tree," said Cripple. Children can tell Santa what they want for Christmas and for $3 they can also have their picture taken with him. Santa will light the evergreen holiday tree at 6 p.m., so grab your lawn chairs, bundle up the kids and come to Centerville, you'll want to be there when Santa comes to town.
