Bill Mancebo's player spotlight: Colton Casey
This week the spotlight shines on Fremont resident Colton Casey. Colton is 10 years old and plays for the FC Fremont soccer league Spartans. Casey has been a soccer athlete for two seasons covering the position of right halfback.
Casey also knows baseball and played for the Niles Centerville Little League Royals team this past season. With half of his life spent on the diamond, he's an experienced second baseman that began his sports career with T-ball.
Keeping in top shape is important for this young athlete and he practices soccer three days a week. He included Fall Ball in his regimen this year and found that the extended baseball season helped him in many ways. Casey also rides his bike every day and says it not only helps him stay in better condition but can be fun too.
Colton studies hard at Brookvale Elementary; is currently in the fifth grade with math as a favorite subject. After school is out and practice is done he enjoys playing games with Lego video, Shrek and Narnia at the top of his list. His TV time includes Spongebob and The Suite Life on Deck. When the day's done he makes sure to spend some time with his two dogs.
When asked about favorite foods he didn't hesitate to call out pizza and his mom's spaghetti followed up by chocolate ice cream. |
