Ohlone water polo sinks at De Anza Tournament
By Gary van den Heuvel
Ohlone College's men's water polo team ended their season with a very respectable showing at the Coast Conference tournament, held November 6 and 7 at De Anza College.
The Renegades entered the tournament seeded fourth in the six-team field. They defeated De Anza 9-8 on November 6, but had their tournament life - and hopes for advancement into the postseason playoff tournament - ended by top seed West Valley, 21-3.
Ohlone finished the tournament with a win over Merced, 11-7. West Valley continued their tradition of excellence (this year is their 20th conference championship) with an 18-9 win over Cabrillo in the final.
The Renegades finished with a 5-10 record this year, 1-2 in the Coast Conference. They were led by Scott Harvey, who led the team in scoring, assists, and steals. Joey DeClerq was also an offensive force, and freshman Austin Fish figures to be an important contributor next season. |
