Men's Soccer

Ohlone College men's soccer ended their scoring slump and broke their two-game losing streak with an emphatic 6-2 victory over Chabot College on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Ohlone College.

The win over the Gladiators was the Renegades' first non-losing result against Chabot since 2005, when the teams tied 1-1. It also provided some payback for last season's 8-3 loss to their Hayward rivals.

George Mayer II led Ohlone by doing what he's been doing all season - making opposing defenses miserable - notching a hat trick against Chabot. The first of Mayer's three goals came in the ninth minute off a corner kick by Pierre Bruggeman. His second goal came 30 minutes later, when he took a pass from Jonathan Santillam and beat the goalkeeper in a one-on-one. Mayer scored on another one-on-one at the end of the half, on a pass from Brandon Garcia.

Diego Montantes joined in on the scoring early in the second half for a 4-0 Renegades lead, and Chabot finally got on the scoreboard due to an own goal by Ohlone. The Renegades' final two goals came off the foot of Daniel Galloway, back-to-back in the 62nd and 64th minute.

With the win, the Renegades improved to 7-4 in the conference, 11-6 overall, entering their Friday game against City College of San Francisco.

Women's Soccer

The Lady Renegades continued to inch toward a playoff berth after two road games, the first a 1-0 loss to Skyline College (October 30), and the second a 2-1 win over City College of San Francisco (November 3).

Ohlone played Skyline tough and lost the heartbreaker on a second half goal. CCSF took a 1-0 lead to the half, but Ohlone got off the scoring skids with two second half goals, by Summer Winters and Melissa Flores.

The Renegades are second in the conference with a record of 6-3-1 and an overall mark of 8-8-1.
