Logan High School turns 50!
Submitted By Carol Dutra-Vernaci
In the fall of 1959 James Logan High School opened its doors to students from Union City, neighboring Niles and south Hayward. It was the first high school since Washington High School was built in 1893 to serve area students. A group of Logan alumni representing each decade since its opening have been planning a celebration set for Friday, November 13, 2009 through Sunday, November 15, 2009. All Logan alumni are invited.
Friday, November 13 will begin the celebration with the Logan Homecoming Game (Logan vs. John F. Kennedy) A special alumni section will be reserved. A special "meet and greet" is planned following the game.
On Saturday, November 14, beginning at 3 p.m., there will be school tours, exhibits, a cultural festival and student performances. From 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. a "sock hop" will feature music from school days gone by.
Logan Day on Sunday, November 15 will be a feature of the Oakland Raiders game versus Kansas City Chiefs. Join Logan tailgaters and cheer on the Raiders with fellow alumni at special ticket packages. Ticket information available from Tamra Appiano at email@example.com or 1-800-RAIDERS, ext 3228. Mention the Logan Anniversary Celebration.
