Theatre: "I Hate Hamlet"
Presented by American High School
In "I Hate Hamlet," Andrew Rally seems to have it all: celebrity and acclaim from his starring role in a hit television series; a rich beautiful girlfriend; a deal making friend from Los Angeles with a million dollar deal; the perfect New York apartment; and a devoted agent who has arranged for Andrew the chance to play Hamlet in Central Park.
There are, however, a couple of glitches in paradise. The newly cast actor of Hamlet, Andrew Rally, reluctantly moves into the apartment of the late actor John Barrymore. Acclaimed for his role as Hamlet, Barrymore haunts Rally and in doing so serves as his theater guide. Barrymore attempts to improve Rally's acting abilities and help him succeed in the coveted role of Hamlet.
Paul Rudnick's comedy "I Hate Hamlet" captures audiences through witty humor and an entertaining story line. The laughs are non-stop as Andrew wrestles with his conscience, his quest for celebrity, the ghost of John Barrymore, his sword, and the prospect of playing Hamlet in Central Park.
