Restaurant Review: Dino's Grill

There are rare times when I am not sure how to begin talk about a restaurant where I have had the privilege of dining. In this case it is because there are so many good things to say about Dino's that determining where to begin is difficult.

Dino's Grill is in a large shopping center, home to a Safeway, Wells Fargo Bank, many small businesses and fast food establishments. Parking is not a problem. The exterior is non-descript and at first thought I had gone to the wrong place; but the opposite is true the moment you enter.

Once inside, at the order counter, the kitchen is located right in front of you; everything is very visible and super clean. Anastasia and her nephew John have owned Dino's for about 12 years and one can see how much pride they have in the menu, how food is prepared, customer service and atmosphere. Dino's is kind of cool and a great place to hang out while enjoying good food.

Of course, you can also order to go. Just ask Newark's Police and Fire Department who have become regular customers. Dino's is a terrific place to bring the family or to enjoy a quick hamburger. The counter siding is covered with pictures drawn by kids who come in with their families. Of course, they are all unique, which makes it fun to view.

The menu is complete for the style that Dino's Grill offers; a nice selection of pastas from the standard bearer, spaghetti and meat balls, to Fettuccine with Pesto and Chicken. Of course they have an Italian Hamburger served on garlic bread on their hamburger menu. I ordered a San Francisco Hamburger and the next time I am going to try the Greek Burger.

There is also a nice selection of salads and specialty sandwiches. If you like Greek Salads, I have a strong suspicion that this one is worth ordering. We selected a Caesar Salad and it was crisp and tasty. Specialty Sandwiches range from simple chicken sandwiches to Greek Chicken to Gyros to Steak or Tuna Sandwiches. You can also get a low carbohydrate hamburger steak.

My wife ordered a special sandwich for the day - fresh crab. She was pleased to taste how fresh it was. We had onion rings, a Caesar salad and soft drinks. The meal was simple, absolutely fresh AND delicious!

I had a chance to speak to Anastasia about Dino's and she emphasized how important quality products are for her customers. She shares this sentiment with many of her fellow restaurant owners; a deep concern that customers enjoy menu items and leave with smiling faces. Anastasia personifies this and as we talked about her desserts, she presented her personally prepared baklava. This is one of my weaknesses and although we were both full, we couldn't pass the offer. Oh my, it was super good. You simply must save room after your dinner for Anastasia's baklava.

If you are looking for formal, elegant dining and price is not an issue, then Dino's Grill is not your place. On the other hand, if you want to go out with the family for a wonderful, affordable and wholesome meal Dino's Grill should be at the top of your list. Best of all you can get everything to go.

Dino's Grill is now on my "regular dining" list.
