Halloween Run

By Laurel Krebs

Halloween means trick or treat, witches and goblins. How about motorcycles, too? One of Fremont's biggest and most exciting Halloween events for grownups is Faultline Harley-Davidson's Halloween Run on Saturday October 24. This event is hosted by Fremont Harley Owners Group, a social group with over 200 members that anyone who owns or rides a Harley-Davidson motorcycle can join. The group started this event in October of 1998 and last year about 400 people from motorcycle chapters near and far attended. The best part is you do not have to own or ride a motorcycle to join the fun!

"It's almost a motorcycle event with a Halloween costume contest where riders and non-riders can come together in a non-threatening environment!" said Mike Genthner, co-owner of Faultline Harley-Davidson.

This is a perfect opportunity for people who are thinking about riding a motorcycle and for people who like to be around motorcycle riders. This Halloween event is actually a fundraiser with part of the proceeds going to local charities. Contrary to popular opinion, motorcycle riders are a very giving bunch of people, raising money and items throughout the year for local charities and for Blue Star Mom's, a local group that supports our troops in the Middle East. Since this event ends at The Saddle Rack, it's best if participants are over the age of 21 years.

Here's what you can expect: Registration begins at Faultline at 8:13 a.m. inside the dealership with coffee, juice and donuts served as a light breakfast. Riders and non-riders will pay $20 per person and if you are planning on riding you'll sign a waiver. All registrants will receive a packet, which includes a Halloween Run pin (for the first 413), a schedule of events, a poker run route that will be the guided motorcycle ride, a map, a raffle ticket, entrance to "The Pirates of Emerson Haunting Fields" and a barbeque tri-tip lunch ticket. The first guided ride will leave Faultline at 10:13 a.m. The ride ends at "The Saddle Rack" (no one under 21 allowed inside) and lunch will be served for all participants starting at Noon and ending around 2:00 p.m.

Bring your Halloween spirit because there will be an exciting Halloween costume contest between the motorcycle chapters around 2:00 p.m. Even if you aren't riding a motorcycle you can still wear a costume to join in on the fun. This is your chance to see motorcycle riders in scary, funny costumes. Some even wear their costumes while riding their motorcycles.
