Dem Nitafan, Grand Knight (council #5796) and Pedro Ybarra, Grand Knight (council #8747) accepted the plaques in honor of Intellectual Disabilities Days. Plaque was presented to assistant Fire Marshal Albert Zamora on behalf of the Fire Department in recognition of Fire Prevention Week. Consent Calendar Approved twelve - $500 family child care assistance fund grant requests. A dozen applications for a Milpitas Child Care Provider Grant were received; each was approved for the maximum amount permitted per application. Total cost: $6,000. Approved one Youth Sports Assistance Fund Grant request from Milpitas Jr. Giants for safety break-away bases, catcher's helmets, shin guards, chest protectors and batting helmets to satisfy baseball safety requirements. Total cost: $1,000. Approved participation in Great Mall's "Stay and Shop" program which is designed to encourage shoppers to stay in Milpitas by connecting their shopping experience with an overnight stay at a local hotel. Total cost: $8,250. Accepted the San Jose Police Department's 2009 Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG). Milpitas Police Department to receive $17,172. Prolific Holdings, Inc. to supply clothing for Public Works and Park and Recreation Services employees in the maximum amount of $17,475.02. Approved payment for renewal of software support for the 911 dispatch system in the amount of $99,774.08. City Manager Reports Approved advertisement, bidding and purchase of furniture, fixtures and equipment packages for the senior center. Estimated total cost is $455,000; no impact as the senior center project is well within budget.
