Back by popular demand, Newark's Recreation and Community Services is offering the 1, 2, 3 GO! Fitness Challenge. A fun, healthy community activity, this non-competitive triathlon-style fitness challenge will incorporate swimming, bicycling and running. The event will be held on Saturday, October 17 at Newark's award-winning Silliman Activity and Family Aquatic Center, located at 6800 Mowry Avenue. Registration is now underway for both individuals and teams of two to three people.
Participants can choose from one, two, or all three events, which will include an indoor swim 300 yards for ages 11 and up, 150 yards for ages six through ten, a 3.35 mile bike course, and a 1.08 mile surface area run. All pre-registered participants will receive a free event t-shirt, free entry to the Aquatic Center for the entire day, and unlimited fun exercising to the cheers of onlookers. You can start building your endurance and stamina now by registering for the Tour de Newark Bike Challenge, the Swim Around Newark Challenge, or the Walk the Talk program. Best of all, all of these events and activities are free, thanks to a generous grant from Kaiser Permanente.
Space is limited, so register soon at the Silliman Activity and Family Aquatic Center or at www.newark.org. For more information call (510) 578-4620.
