It was a cold and cloudy Sunday morning (October 11) at Fremont Central Park field 5, but that did not dampen the spirits of the U16 Traveling House girls of Rampage, as they ousted the Mustang Strikers, 5-0.
At the sound of the referee blowing his kickoff whistle the Rampage offense took command of the game and began their unrelenting attack on the Strikers' keeper. The first score of the game was made by forward Megan Dunn in the 10th minute with a well-placed shot into the back of the net.
Midfielders Rhian Dunn, Sarina Utamsing and Karina Paonessa made precision passes to forwards Jagpreet Sidhu, Selina Mehesri and Erica Ohye. Ohye was able to capitalize on one making a sprint down the left wing followed by a hard, low shot slotted past the keeper for the second goal of the game.
The Strikers had no chance to recover from the two quick goals and, on their kickoff, had the ball stripped away by stopper Kinsey Mead who lobbed in a perfect pass to Andrea Hanna who found the back of the net for her first goal of the season, giving the Rampage a 3-0 lead, which they took to the half.
The second half started with a bang for the Rampage as the red hot Andrea Hanna receiving a well placed shot from Tiffany Sarchet scored again in the first few minutes of the second half.
The Strikers then came alive and started numerous attacks on the Rampage net. Keeper Zarin Khan made several outstanding saves, one of them being a direct kick off a penalty in the box. Midfielders Molly Cory and Meghana Paranjpe gave the Rampage defense relief by stopping several attacks.
The game ended with a beautifully lobbed pass from near mid field by Dunn to Ohye who tapped in the ball from the near left side of the goal line for the final goal of the game. Keeper Khan kept a clean sheet with help from outstanding defensive play by Aileen Cheng, Malinda Cheung, Aishwarya Thakur and Sarchet.
