Chabot football chops down Redwoods

The Gladiators handed College of the Redwoods its sixth loss of the season and beat them 52-35 on October 10 at Chabot Stadium.
Chabot scored 31 first half points. Sophomore quarterback Antoine Young completed 13 passes for 160 yards and one touchdown. In the second quarter, Young showed off his running ability by scoring a touchdown on an 80-yard scamper.
The football team is now 2-3.
Chabot wrestling traveled to Saratoga to participate in the 21-team West Valley Tournament. Chabot earned 59.5 points for seventh place. Stephan de la Cruz took home first place at 141 pounds. At 149 pounds, Kyle Means earned a semi-final spot but lost to Cuesta College's John Banke.
Chabot wrestlers compete at home on October 15 at 7 p.m.
Andreas Ponce lone goal was not enough for the men's soccer team to snap out of its recent funk as the team lost 2-1 to De Anza College on October 6. The Gladiators were limited to one goal again in their 2-1 loss against San Francisco City College on October 9. The men's team falls to 2-7-2 overall and 0-5 in conference play. They go on the road to play Cabrillo College on October 16 and Mission College in Santa Clara on October 20.
The women's soccer team could not ride the momentum from its nine-goal victory against Mission College, losing its latest match-up against Evergreen Valley 2-1. The women defend their home turf on October 20 against Skyline College at 2 p.m.
After a five-set victory against San Jose City College, the women's volleyball team took care of Skyline College 25-17, 25-9 and 25-20 on October 9. The lady Gladiators are now 12-4 overall. The team travels to Monterey to take on Monterey Peninsula College on October 16.
