Ross Gershenson to be honored by Alameda Masonic Lodge
Submitted By Alameda Masonic Lodge
Please join Alameda Masonic Lodge #167 F. & A.M. of Fremont in honoring Ross Gershenson, a teacher and musician at Thornton Junior High School, for his dedication in bringing music to the school, students and the community.
"Gershenson gives a lot of his time to the after school jazz band and volunteers as well because of his love of music and teaching," says Masonic Lodge President, Michael McKnight.
This special evening event will take place on Wednesday, October 14, at the Masonic Lodge in Fremont. Masons are the world's oldest fraternal organization. A lasagne dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by the award presentation at 7 p.m. Dinner is $5 per person and reservations are requested by October 10.
Principal Phyllis Hamilton of Thornton Junior High says, "Ross has done an outstanding job of establishing and maintaining the after school Jazz Band Program. Besides the after school program, he works diligently to make music accessible to all students and includes all levels of students in the music program. Every year the bands receive awards which could not happen without Ross Gershenson's commitment to teaching and music education."
