Hayward league football heroics

The week in Hayward Area Athletic League (HAAL) was a mix of heroics and highlights. For the most part, throughout the season the teams have been field with dramatic victories and turnaround seasons. This past week was filled with them.

San Leandro 55, Mt Eden 0
George Robeson rushed for three touchdowns to lead the Pirates (2-2, 1-0) to a key win over the Monarchs (0-4, 0-1) in the HAAL opener

San Lorenzo 12, Moreau Catholic 7
San Lorenzo middle linebacker Aoese Noa would nab an interception and recover a fumble in the last three minutes of the game to help his team spoil MC's visit and secure their first victory of the young season.

Tennyson 40, Overfelt-San Jose 7
TJ Ner rushed for 154 yards and three touchdowns, and returned a punt for 35 yards for another score, as the visiting Lancers would claim a precious victory on the road.

Hayward 35, San Lorenzo 21
Carl Yates returned a kickoff 92 yards which broke a 21-21 tie early in the fourth quarter and sent the host Farmers to a crucial league victory at Sunset field in Hayward.
