Artist Open Studios
Submitted By Guadalupe Agbabiaka
Hayward Arts Council is trying something new for Open Studios this fall. Artists will display their work at Hill and Valley Club House, on Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11. Saturday will feature demonstrations by well-known artists and Sunday there will be music by various musicians and groups. Light refreshments will be available; admission is free.
The array of artists is outstanding. On Saturday artists in four different fields will educate attendees about a particular subject. At 1 p.m., Bill Sala, noted prize-winning Castro Valley artist, will talk on "How I Learned Figure Drawing." At 2 p.m., Robert Wolff will demonstrate his technique for creating wire sculptures and block prints. At 3 p.m., Steve Mesh, PG&E expert, will discuss lighting and art. At 4 p.m., Carol Bettencourt will show how to produce greeting cards from one's art. On Sunday the musicians take over.
The Arts Council hopes this event will allow artists to learn from each other, to gain exposure for their work and have an opportunity to educate the public about art. Save a little time this weekend to check out the art, enjoy refreshments, and join the fun.
