OMAHA, Neb. (AP), Sep 26 _ One of the competitors in this weekend's Omaha Marathon will be participating without shoes.
Rick Roeber, of Lee's Summit, Mo., has been running barefoot since 2003, and Sunday's race will be his 46th barefoot marathon.
Roeber says he runs barefoot because he enjoys it and it helped reduce problems he was having with his knees.
Roeber also uses his barefoot running to raise money for charities. This weekend, he is running on behalf of an organization that provides wheelchairs to disabled people in the developing world called the Free Wheelchair Mission.
