September 23, 2009 > Milpitas Tidal Waves finish first Milpitas Tidal Waves finish first Submitted By Samu Tiumalu To close out the 2008-09 swim season, the Milpitas Tidal Waves (MTW) competed in the Summer's End Swim Classic in Monterey on Saturday, Sept. 5, and Sunday, Sept. 6. There were approximately 10 Northern California swim clubs in attendance with 200 swimmers participating in the meet. MTW had over 35 swimmers compete. The Milpitas Tidal Waves swim team finished 1st overall. In addition, individual high-point honor awards went to Tan Nguyen for the boys 11-12 age group and Caroline Zhang for the girls 15-18 age group. Other individual-event, first-place finishers include Francis Hoang for the 8 & under 25-yard butterfly and Allan Zhao for the 10 & under 100-yard breaststroke. Congratulations to all that competed and placed in the swim meet. MTW will be on hiatus for the month of September and will begin their 2009-10 swim season on Thursday, Oct. 1.
