Restaurant Review: Omega Restaurant and Lounge
By J. D. Wolfe
Okay, here is the mission. It is Sunday and a beautiful day. You want to go out and eat but nothing fancy. A list of favorite places leads to one that makes sense, Omega. Suddenly, flashbulbs pop in your head and you remember The Omega Restaurant and Lounge in Milpitas. It is a haven of good food and very easy to find with plenty of parking.
The kitchen, easily seen in front of a dining counter, looks to be well-organized and maintained. Rest rooms are clean. Floors are carpeted and clearly vacuumed with regularity. This is a great family restaurant with a menu is so complete that it makes no difference if patrons are hungry for breakfast, lunch or dinner. In any case, portions are generous.
My stepfather always orders raviolis with meat sauce and today was no different. Mom ordered soup and I ordered a Cobb Salad with dressing on the side. It came with a small cup of homemade chili. I also ordered a side of Italian Sausage and garlic bread. Everything arrived in plentiful quantities. The homemade chili is fantastic. I cannot say if it would win first prize in a chili cook-off contest but it would be a formidable entry. I would go back just for a bowl of it! Make sure you get the onions and melted cheese toppings.
The soup Mom got was filling and my stepfather ate almost all of his raviolis although he usually takes half home. The Cobb Salad really surprised me. I had a hard time finding the lettuce since it was so full of the toppings you only read about at other restaurants. Mom and I split the Italian Sausage and it tasted just the way my Italian Grandma fixed it. I am in heaven when simple meals like this are in front of me.
I highly recommend The Omega Restaurant and Lounge which serves good food at very reasonable prices. The Gamboa Family purchased the place about five years ago and on any given day you will find Rafael, Mike or Raymond Gamboa there to greet you, supported by a very nice team of waiters and waitresses. When you stop by, tell them you read about their place in The Tri City Voice!
