Annual Paddy's Film Festival
By Mona Shah
Tri-City artists have always found a welcoming atmosphere at Paddy's, a local coffee shop. After hosting several art showcases, Paddy's Coffee House in Union City has opened its doors once again with the return of their annual film festival.
This festival is open to all themes which include but are not limited to documentary, animation, comedy, drama, and foreign, assuring that there will be something for everyone to enjoy at each screening. This free film festival is open to all aspiring film makers who would like to share their work. All submissions must on DVD (American region only please).
As a regular venue for open mic nights and artists, owner Paddy Iyer feels the film festival is "another form of expression." Assisted by Union City Leisure Services, Paddy's will continue accepting entries throughout the month (deadline is August 28) and add them to Friday night screenings. For information and applications call (510) 675-5328 or email chrisv@unioncity.org
Movies will be shown every Friday night in September at 8:30 p.m. in the backyard theatre. Be sure to bring a lawn chair and blanket to enjoy the free show.
