Christmas comes early for Fremont Symphony
Submitted By Sue Rose
The Fremont Symphony Orchestra recently received a $3,000 grant from Target to support the orchestra's 2009 Nutcracker Ballet performances.
Target has sponsored The Nutcracker Ballet since 2007. Going to the Fremont Symphony's fully staged Nutcracker Ballet production with live orchestra has become a popular holiday tradition for Tri-City families. Performances feature Yoko's Dance and Performing Arts Academy student dancers in lavish costumes plus a special guest soloist and appearances by local celebrities. Matinee and evening performances are scheduled on December 5 and 6 this year.
The Fremont Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1964 and annually serves up to 7,000 people in southern Alameda County and northern Santa Clara County. Orchestra programs include an evening concert series, holiday Nutcracker Ballet with live orchestra, Young Artist Competition, Young Composers Competition and recital/ensemble performances. The Fremont Symphony also collaborates on projects with Fremont Opera. Pauline Weaver is President of the Board. For more information, call (510) 794-1659 or visit www.fremontsymphony.org.
