Foothills tour

Another successful tour of the foothills was taken in June by over 40 participants from the Milpitas Historical Society and the public.

The tour was started last year by President Barbara Gomes Bowman, and was so well attended she decided to do it again this year.

Barbara says that she will make this a yearly outing so the public can see sites usually closed to the public.

One of the stops was at the last remaining working apricot orchard in Milpitas, belonging to Kelly and Diana Silva on Piedmont Road.

Rose, White and Blue parade

San Jose residents warmly welcomed the Milpitas Historical Society at their Rose, White and Blue Parade on the Alameda on the 4th of July.

Vice President Rick Martinez drove the Society's antique fire truck "Leapin Lena" and sounded the siren, while President Barbara Gomes Bowman rang the bell and ooga horn.

Other society members Sacorra Grady, Joanne Souza, Bob Martinez and James Baker rode in the back waving flags.
