Entered into a "consortium" agreement with Alameda County and other cities within the county to apply for Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) Phase II funds under Obama's American Recovery & Reinvestment Act 2009 to target foreclosed properties and prevent blight.
Commissioned Suzanne Gayle to create a new mural for the Cinema Place Alley Way Project at 1051 B Street (Avalon Jewellers) for $36, 219 plus $5,000 preparation and extra project costs.

Public Comments Susan Gonzales quoted the Declaration of Independence to remind all of the rights of the people and the checks and balances in place to prevent concentration of excessive power in government. She is against the construction of a new power plant in the City and asked the Council to reconsider.
Andrea Dareng sought an update for the Garin-Vista Project in the absence of replies from people associated with the project. She asked for a "mediator," either the City Manager or a councillor, to accompany her at future meetings. A buttress will replace the original keyway but it is unclear if these are different terms for the same structure. City Manager Greg Jones will respond in a few days.
Amanda Dareng, daughter of Andrea Dareng, asked to start a dialogue to ameliorate the situation for the senior citizens affected by the Garin-Vista Project. |
