Dolphins celebrate Coach Radecke

Submitted By Andy Ng

This past Saturday, July 11, at their East Bay Swim League (EBSL) meet versus the San Leandro Drowning Darryls, the Treeview Dolphins celebrated Bob Radecke's 30th year as head coach of the swim club.

Before the meet, Coach Radecke was presented with a special 30th anniversary Treeview Dolphins cap and a plaque commemorating the occasion. The Treeview pool was decorated with numerous posters created by the swimmers and, both swimmers and parents alike, dressed in standard Coach Radecke meet attire (jean shorts, baseball cap and sunglasses; and the ensemble was completed with a fake moustache).

Also, three senior swimmers (Ben Hong, Joseph Connors and Justin Cox) who are swimming their last season with the team were recognized prior to the start of the meet and presented with flowers, a team signed Treeview poster, and a Treeview towel.

The Treeview Dolphins came up on the short end of the meet, losing to Drowning Daryls, 662-356, but there were plenty of personal bests as the Treeview Dolphins prepare for the EBSL championships in two weeks.

Notables Under 10: Tyler Blanch, Joseph Camacho, Mason Cunningham, Kiersten Jelonek, Andrew McGill, Sam Ong, Laila Ortega, David Peter, Cimone Valteau, MerryD Wilson and William Wu.

Notables 11 and Up: Jacqueline Jelonek, Nana Owusu, Justin Pasion, Aaron Peter, Dennis Reil, Julia Roriz, Frankie Tanjuatco and Jamie Weimer.

Treeview Dolphin swimmers are primarily located in the South Hayward and Union City areas but do have kids that come from Fremont, Oakland and San Leandro. If you have a child, 5-18, and are interested in the team, visit www.treeviewdolphins.org for more information. To add your name to our e-mail list for the 2010 season, send an e-mail to info@treeviewdolphins.org.
