Submitted By Jackie Antig
The sounds of bagpipes and drums will fill the air at the Dunsmuir Hellman Historic estate, as the 35th annual Scottish Highland Games will be held on July 11 and July 12. "It is an incredible event and a long tradition in our community," said Marketing and Public Relations Manager, Jackie Antig.
The days will be overflowing with numerous activities, sights and sounds that celebrate Scottish heritage. There will be Highland Athletic games, sheep dog demonstrations, food and craft booths, gathering of the clans, children's activities, pipe band competitions and musical performances.
Live performances will be by Banshee in the Kitchen, Pladdohg, Tempest, the Browne Sisters with George Cavannaugh, Prince Charles Pipe Band, City of Sacramento Pipe Band, Irish Pipers of San Francisco, and MacIntosh Pipe Band. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (65+) and military, $8 for children ages 5-12, and children under 5 are free. Self-guided tours of the 110-year-old, 16,224 square foot, neo-classical mansion is also free.
