July 8, 2009 > Local teachers honored Local teachers honored Submitted By Miranda Miller California's Retired Teachers' Association's (CalRTA) core purpose is to enhance and protect the benefits of retired teachers. Another objective is to promote and safeguard public education systems. The association recently acknowledged three "Teachers of the Year:" Vera-Lisa Roberts of New Haven Unified School District, Ann Street of Newark Unified School District and Kristy Leo of Fremont Unified School District.They each received a certificate awarded by the school district and a $100 grant. In addition CalRTA bestowed gifts of $100 grants to the following Tri-Cities teachers: Lakshmi Balasubramanian, Alyssa Brand, Amanda Burr, Jenna Burton, Rick Denny, Erin Foret, Heidi Gentry, Jessica Gonzalez, Aditi Honawar, Sara Hughes, Jenna Hull, Trisha Johnson, Katie Kaufman, Tana Kermaninejai, Gretel Ly, Meltissa Madden, Kelly McIntash, Jennifer Pardini, Jeff Pickering, Seema Ramanathan, Sheetal Rameshan, Saren Reese, Wendy Rodrigues, Mala Sharma, Sangeeta Sharma, Dallas Strelo, Kathryn Tedford, Heidi Trixner, and Shayla Wilson.
