Colker joins the Wolfpack

After a successful two-year career at Ohlone College, former Lady Renegades pitcher Kelly Colker will take her game up a level, committing to Division-I University of Nevada at Reno, where she'll major in Hospitality Administration/ Management.
"I chose UNR because it's close to home," said Colker. "The campus is beautiful, the facilities are amazing and it just felt right to me."
The University of Hawaii and Slippery Rock University were two other schools that showed interest in the right-hander.
Colker led the Ohlone softball team to a 35-9 record in 2009, including its seventh consecutive Coast Conference title, and its first State Tournament appearance. She was also the Coast Conference Pitcher of the Year and was named First Team All-State for her second year in a row.
She finished the 2009 season with a 26-7 record in 32 starts with a 1.27 ERA, tied for the best ERA of any pitcher in the state with 30-plus starts.
"I bring with me my coachability, my calm demeanor and my competitiveness," Colker added.
Colker also brings with her to Reno a 51-13 record in 62 career starts for the Lady Renegades, that of which she credits to Ohlone Softball Head Coach Donna Runyon.
"Playing for Coach (Runyon) prepared me for everything," Colker mentioned. "She has an amazing program. Her structure, her passion for the game, the way she handles her players, her knowledge of the game, her discipline and her desire to win.
"I would play for Coach Runyon in a heartbeat again if I could," Colker continued. "She is by far the best coach I have ever had."
Colker joins a Wolfpack team that went 40-19 in 2008-09, but lost to Fresno State in the WAC title game, 3-2, and lost to Cal Poly, 6-1, in the Stanford Regionals of the NCAA Tournament.
