Elmo's coming!

By Meenu Gupta

Sesame Street is abuzz with excitement as you watch your favorite characters come alive on stage. Elmo, his sunflower friend Sunny, Abby Cadabby, Bert, Ernie, Big Bird, and all their friends are coming to see you. Elmo has raised his sunflower Sunny, from a seed, but his floral friend has outgrown the flower pot. In "Elmo's Green Thumb," Elmo and friends find Big Bird's garden the ideal place for Sunny to flourish and grow but they are too excited to wait. Rather than let Sunny follow nature's course, Abby Cadabby, Sesame Street's fairy-in-training, casts a spell with her magic wand to make Sunny the sunflower grow bigger and faster. The spell does just the opposite and shrinks Elmo and all of his friends.

Sesame Workshop, a non-profit educational organization is well-known for the legendary Sesame Street. VEE Corporation and Sesame Workshop are committed to teaching basic educational and social skills through quality family entertainment. A portion of every ticket sold goes to Sesame Workshop to fund educational programs for children. Called a "Broadway Style" production each tour has creative scripts enacted by professional dancers and actors, music composition, and awesome set designs.

While Abby searches for just the right words to reverse the spell, Elmo, Zo‘, Telly and friends explore Big Bird's garden from a smaller perspective and learn some big lessons about patience, and learn the role that ladybugs, beetles, butterflies play in our ecosystem. Watch the show to find out if Sunny eventually grows tall. "Learning about our ecosystem is a big concept for children. In this show, Elmo and friends and children learn some of the very basic lessons," said Jennie Rose, Publicity manager, VEE Corporation.

As with every Sesame Street Live performance, there are plenty of fun, upbeat songs including some that adults will recognize, like "The Garden Song (Inch by Inch)", "What's Goin' On" and "Love Grows Where My Rosemary Grows" as well as classic songs such as "Sunny Days", "I Love Trash" and "Ladybug Picnic". "There are several different bright, vibrant colored sets that will keep children mesmerized," said Rose.

The performance is just over 90 minutes long including a 15-minute intermission. Tickets are priced at $15, $20 and $25. A limited number of $30 Gold Circle seats are also available. There is a special opening night discount for June 12 at 7 p.m. when the show starts. Excluding Gold Circle tickets for opening night are priced are $15. For performances in San Jose, a facility fee of $2 will be added to all ticket prices, and for Oakland a 5 percent fee is applied. Additional fees and discounts may apply.

Special Sunny Seat VIP packages will be available on Saturday, June 13 at 2 p.m. Each Sunny Seat includes a VIP Floor Seat, show program, and a pre-show meet and greet photo opportunity with Elmo.
