Youth Orchestra welcomes summer
By Melody Yee
In a joint performance, the Stars Youth Orchestra (SYO) and Lei Zhang Violin Academy's students will display their talents Sunday June 7 at the Fremont Adult School's Tower Theater. They will open the summer season with Vivaldi's "Summer", Gershwin's "Summertime", and the year-round favorite of Webber's "Phantom of the Opera." Additional selections include Bach's Suite, Mozart's Flute Quartet & Violin Concerto No. 4, Monti's Czardas, Bruch's G minor Violin Concerto, Wieniawski's Legende and Li Zili's Fishermance's Harvest Song.
The concert will feature solo performers including Julia Yu, vocalist; Alice Wang, Aneesh Natarajan, Sandip Nirmel, Sean Ang and Sharon Zhen on violins; Ray Wu, on flute; and for the esteemed students of Mr. Lei Zhang, teacher and music director of the SYO. Ms. Chen Woo, piano accompanist.
What better way is there to welcome summer than by spending a Sunday afternoon listening to great music?
