Kids, kites and 'water park light'
Fremont's Annual Kids 'N Kites Festival will offer an extra "splash" this year. That's because, in addition to the high-flying fun of colorful kites sailing and somersaulting through the air, visitors to Central Park will get a "sneak peek" during an open house of Fremont's brand-new and long-awaited Aqua Adventure Waterpark.
This year the festival will take place in a different location - Central Park Meadow - located between Lake Elizabeth and newly-constructed Aqua Adventure on Saturday, May 16. Hosted by the City of Fremont Parks and Recreation Department and presented by the American Swim Academy, the event attracts over 8,000 visitors each year and is free to the public.
Families can expect a fun-filled day with a Kids' Zone, games, prizes and interactive booths. Visitors will also enjoy live magic and music stage performances and free kites for the first 2,500 children to arrive.
An open house at the four-acre water park will allow visitors to check out the pool, river, water slides and other features. Don't worry if you're not ready to get into a swimsuit yet. It's only a peek - the park won't open for public use until May 23.
