How can we assure the academic success of Hayward-area African American students when research indicates there is a significant achievement gap between them and students in other ethnic sub-groups?
On a national level, African American students fall below basic level in core subjects such as English Language Arts and mathematics. Hayward Unified School District's African American student population mirrors national statistics. So what does this mean for the District's overall growth and student achievement?
These questions and many others will be addressed at the "Delta Day at HUSD" educational forum sponsored by the district and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Hayward-Tri-City Alumnae chapter. Free child care will be available.
Delta Day at HUSD educational forum Thursday, May 14 6 - 8:30 p.m. Burbank Elementary School, Multipurpose Room 222 Burbank St., Hayward (510) 885-8483. |
