Decoto motor tour takes trip back in time
Ever wonder what lies behind the gates of Union City's century-old Masonic Home? Know where the Decoto Telephone Exchange was? Care to learn about local pioneers buried at Cypress Cemetery.
These and other little-known facts and places are included in a fascinating motor tour of Union City's Decoto district. Local historian Tim Swenson will lead participants on this hour-long excursion, the first of several planned as part of Union City's 50th Anniversary Celebration taking place throughout 2009.
Only 13 seats are available on this wheelchair-accessible trip through local history, so advance tickets are recommended. Meet at the Dry Creek Regional Park parking lot at the end of May Road (east of Mission Boulevard near Whipple Rd.) at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 2.
Where else can you travel back in time for just $10 per person? Cost includes a tour booklet. Buy tickets online at www.UnionCity50.com, or call (510) 675-5420 for reservations.
