By Biff Jones
For the Milpitas High School Trojan diamond players, the end of the season probably cannot come soon enough as both teams have struggled in 2009.
Baseball dropped two games last week, Friday and Saturday, April 24-25, in a home-and-home series against Santa Clara Valley Athletic League (SCVAL), De Anza Division rival, Cupertino. Trojans lost 6-4 at Cupertino on Friday, and again at home on Saturday, 4-2, to drop their league record to 1-11 and overall record to 7-17.
Next game for baseball is on Wednesday, April 29, at home against Los Gatos at 3:30 p.m., followed by their last regular season game on Friday, May 1, at Los Gatos, also at 3:30 p.m. SCVAL tournament begins on Tuesday, May 5, at 3:30 p.m. Teams and sites are yet to be determined.
For the softball team, they have been off since April 14 and also play in SCVAL, De Anza Division. Their league record is 3-5, with their overall record 5-15-1. They next play on Thursday, April 30, at Monta Vista of Cupertino, followed by their final home game and senior game on May 5, at 4 p.m. versus Homestead of Cupertino. They then have two more road league games before the Central Coast Section Playoffs begin on Wednesday, May 20.
