Fremont fire fighters and scout leaders receive recognition
Mission Peak Boy Scout District will host its sixth annual "Friends of Scouting Community Breakfast" at the Fremont Marriott from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 24. The breakfast is aimed at increasing civic awareness and support for Scouting in the Tri-Cities area. Master of Ceremonies this year will be Newark Mayor Dave Smith.
Each year, Scouts recognize local community leaders who have supported or who have made a significant contribution to Scouting. For 2009, the "Good Scouter" award goes to Fremont Fire Fighters and Scouter of the Year goes to Mr. Bob Doherty. In addition, 2008 Eagle Scouts will be honored.
The purpose of the Boy Scouts of America - incorporated on February 8, 1910, and chartered by Congress in 1916 - is to provide an educational program for boys and young adults (young men and women) to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness.
The Mission Peak District serves over 2500 members and their families in Fremont, Newark, and Union City. For further information about Scouting, visit our website at www.sfbac.org/missionpeak or call Joe Barton, District Executive, at (510) 577-9227.
