April 15, 2009 > Jonathan Philip Erway Jonathan Philip Erway May 25, 1949 - March 23, 2009 Jonathan Philip (Phil) Erway, 59, passed away at his home in Union City California on Monday, March 23. 2009. Phil was born to Betty Bunch and Don Erway on May 25, 1949 in Hayward, California. He graduated from San Lorenzo High School in 1967 and joined the U.S. Air force in 1968. After completing several military schools, he was stationed in Viet Nam where he earned the U.S. Air Force Meritorious Award for his efforts to help local Vietnamese villagers rebuild and improve their lives. Phil is survived by his mother Betty Shepard and brother Tim Erway. A memorial service will be held to honor Phil's life at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 19 at Christian Heights Assembly of God Church, 13711 Joshua Way, Sonora CA.
