On Saturday, March 28, the U-14/15 girls House League Panthers met Vortex on a beautiful evening. This turned out to be the proverbial game of two halves.

Panthers dominated the opening exchanges, going close on several occasions. Less than five minutes into the game, some nice passing between the Panthers' players culminated in Sarina Utamsing tapping the ball gently to Erica Ohye, who wasted no time in hammering home a low shot into the corner of the net to make it 1-0.

Within minutes, Utamsing scored on a nice solo effort after beating two Vortex defenders. Ohye finished the first half scoring, after being fed by Natalie Cory just over the halfway line, to make the score 3-0 to the Panthers.

Only solid defending and good goalkeeping by Vortex kept the score close as Ohye and Sangeetha Srinivasan both had additional chances, and birthday girl, Molly Cory, almost scored but her shot hit the crossbar. Panther keeper, Meghana Paranjpe, played an outstanding first half, saving many shots by the Vortex offence.

Vortex attacked from the second half kick off and quickly pulled a goal back on a shot which soared over the stranded Panthers' keeper. Vortex continued to push forward and only desperate defending by Megan Dunn, Sanya Sehgal, Kinsey Mead and Sanchla Sehgal stopped Vortex from adding to their tally.

Although most of the play was in the Panthers' half, the Panthers were dangerous on the breakaway and created several chances themselves. Fine goalkeeping at both ends by Rhian Dunn of the Panthers and Allison Huff of Vortex kept the final score 3-1, as both keepers made at least half a dozen great saves.
