Everybody loves a parade

Participants have until April 1 to submit an application to participate in Union City's 50th Anniversary parade.

Led by the Grand Marshal, this slice of Americana will feature the James Logan High School Marching Band, which is usually only seen at venues such as the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Rose Parade and 2008 Olympics.

Some 80 people from local businesses and cultural organizations attended the float-building workshop in February and are eager to apply what they learned. Championship performers, huge helium balloons, equestrian units, classic cars, fire trucks, local sports teams, and many other groups are expected.

Applications and more information can be found at: http://www.unioncity50.com.
