Milpitas Host Lions Club is continuing it's tradition with the third annual magic show fundraiser, The Magic of Miracles, featuring "Magic Mike the Magician," a well known Silicon Valley magician performing for children and adults all over the Bay Area. "I'll never forget this!", "I had so much fun!", "Magic Mike is my favorite entertainer, we've used him at our birthday parties every year," kids and adults alike are heard exclaiming at the end of shows.
"Lions Clubs International works to bring laughter, hope, and the ability to cope with disabilities that affect children and adult lives in many ways, by fundraisers such as this magic show," said Irene Whiteside, President, Milpitas Host Lions Club. Proceeds go to send children to Diabetes camps, provide free eyeglasses and eye operations, donations to the Milpitas Food Pantry, Boy Scouts, Canine Companions, Homeless Shelters, and many other charities.
Lions Clubs International has now around 45,000 clubs with approximately 1.3 million members in 200 countries and geographical locations. Founded in 1963, Milpitas Host Lions Club is one of the oldest community service clubs in Milpitas that has served the needs of the Milpitas community for 45 years.
Members of all ages and all ethnic groups are united towards the common cause of helping those less fortunate then themselves in the community. Charities that the Milpitas Host Lions support include the Lions Eye Foundation of California-Nevada, the Diabetes Society, Canine Companions, Kases for Kids, Sight First II, and the Lions Blind Center (Santa Clara Valley). The members also work on projects like the Student Speakers Contest, Peace Poster Contest, The Hearing Foundation, Youth Exchange, and the A.J. Robinson Foundation Health Screening Van.
The club has recently implemented its monthly Pro-Speaker event which partners with the Milpitas Chamber of Commerce to feature professional speakers in the community. "I congratulate the Milpitas Host Lions Club on their 46th Anniversary celebration and invite everyone to their 2 different Magic Shows at the Milpitas Community Center on Sunday, March 22 to raise funds for their projects benefiting the community," said Bob Livengood, Mayor of the City of Milpitas.
