When you think things couldn't be worse for the elderly, they will be for seniors at Besaro Mobile Home Park in Fremont. That is, if the owners, led by David Beretta, have their way. The owners have petitioned the City of Fremont for a major rent increase which will raise over half the plot rents by 42%, some as high as 48%. All by this May. This is at a time when most seniors' supplemental incomes, whether 401(k)s, dividends, pensions, royalties, etc. are at an all-time low and still crashing. Rents at the park are already fourth highest in the area. The City should squash this proposal with all haste. |
