InfoBrain: Find love and physical fitness at Newark Library
Where can you go to win prizes for making social connections? Newark Library! The library's five-month healthy initiative, BeHealthy5, continues in March with a Checklist for Social Health. Current research finds that isolated and lonely people have a higher risk of dementia in later life so the activities are designed to encourage people to connect with others, volunteer and be active in their communities. Interested people can sign up at the Information Desk at Newark Library or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
By completing 12 activities on the checklist and returning it to the Information Desk at Newark Library by April 7, people qualify for a prize and a grand prize entry. The IHOP on Jarvis in Newark donated the grand prizes for March: two gift certificates, each good for two free entrees and beverages. The third prize is $5 donated by the Ninji Mala Hot Pot Restaurant at Lion's Court in Newark.
BeHealthy5 participants can also take advantage of "Friends are Free" in March and April. Buying one entrŽe at participating Newark restaurants qualifies a friend (or family member) for a free entrŽe of equal or lesser value. Friends are Free restaurants in Newark include Bombay Garden, Chevy's Fresh Mex, Kabul Express Kabob and Mehran Indian and Pakistani Restaurant.
