Two Teachers Win Grants
By Rick LaPlante
Alvarado Elementary School science teacher Kim Pratt reports that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has funded a new cycle of Bay Watershed Education and Training grants, including about $57,000 to expand her program, "Bringing Science to Life for Students, Teachers and the Community," to Pioneer Elementary in 2009-10. Ms. Pratt's goal is to "continue to create environmental stewards in our students."
Bay Watershed also notified James Logan High School teacher Lisa Childers that the "Freshmen in Natural Settings" project initiated this year has been recommended for another round of funding, worth about $60,000. Logan grant writer Sue Hinojoza helped to facilitate this grant. |
