Lions celebrate love of City
Submitted By Ripple Leung
Mayor Bob Wasserman, accompanied by Economic Development Advisory Commissioner Sheena Chang and Planning Commissioner David Bonacorssi, joined the Fremont Asian Lions Club for their February meeting. The theme was "Love of the City."
Lion President Ripple Leung expanded the traditional idea of celebrating love with partners, family members and friends to a broader concept of loving your neighbors, city and communities.
Wasserman, formerly a Lion in Brea, enjoyed the enthusiasm shared by the Asian Lions while providing exceptional service to Fremont's Asian community. The club addresses the rising needs of Asians, providing niche activities such as regular Senior Outings, Youth Exchange Programs and Eyeglass Recycling. With the current economic crisis, Fremont Asian Lions provide a platform for Asians to share their problems and get comfort and support.
The meeting ended by inducting Lety Sycip into the club. She has been a Fremont resident for more than 20 years and is happy to share the club's purpose and make a difference in the community.
