YMCA kicks off fundraising campaign
The Fremont Newark YMCA has "kicked off" the Annual Partners Campaign to provide "camperships" for YMCA summer day camp, and financial assistance for families in need of licensed school age child care.
The campaign kicked off at Grimmer Elementary School Y-kids childcare site where the goal of $52,000 was announced. After two weeks through generous community donations the campaign is at nearly $20,000.
"These dollars represent the community's commitment to children and families, especially during these difficult times, "said David Hembree, Executive Director. Often the child care and summer programs allow parents to work a full day while knowing their children are in a safe, nurturing and fun place to be.
"We are coming up to the halfway point, this is where we need a real push for the goal so that we can make some dreams come true this year", said Hembree. "The YMCA's approach is that no one will be turned away from the programs due to a lack of funds, so the need for community support is great. This year more than ever, we need those who can to stand in the gap for those who are struggling."
