Ohlone and Chabot baseball have undefeated week
By Biff Jones
It was a good week of play for the local community college baseball teams as the only loss was to the weather man.
Chabot's game with Santa Rosa on Tuesday, Feb. 17, was rained out. They then traveled to Fresno City College and came away with a 6-4 win on Thursday, Feb. 19; and a 7-5 victory on Friday, Feb. 20, to improve their record to 7-5.
Next up for Head Coach Steve Friend's Gladiators is the start of the Coast Golden Gate Conference season. On Thursday, Feb. 26, they host Skyline College of San Bruno at 2 p.m.; travel to College of San Mateo on Saturday, Feb. 28; and return home for games against De Anza of Cupertino, Tuesday, March 3, and West Valley of Saratoga, Thursday, March 5: both games starting at 2 p.m.
For Head Coach Jordon Twohig's Ohlone Renegades, they traveled to Coalinga on Wednesday, Feb. 18, to face West Hills and came home with a 7-4 victory. They then swept De Anza; at home on Thursday, Feb. 19, 18-6, then on the road, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21, 4-3 and 10-1, respectfully.
The Renegades open Coast Pacific Conference play at Gavilan of Gilroy on February 26. They then have three home conference games against Hartnell of Salinas on Saturday, Feb. 28, at noon; Canada of Redwood City on Tuesday, March 3, at 2 p.m.; and Mission of Santa Clara, March 5, at 2 p.m.
