February 25, 2009 > Newark Cup Soccer for elementary school children Newark Cup Soccer for elementary school children By Biff Jones Newark Cup Soccer Tournament will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, through Friday, March 6, at Newark Junior High and Newark Memorial High School. Students, both girls and boys, in grades four, five and six from eight Newark elementary schools will participate in this annual event. Preliminary round-robin play will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, and Sunday, March 1, at the junior high. Consolation and championship games for the girls are on Wednesday, March 4; and for the boys, games are on Friday, March 6. Both games will be at Newark Memorial. Teams participating are from Bunker, Graham, Kennedy, Lincoln, Milani, Muscik, Schilling and Snow elementary schools in Newark. Teams will play on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.; and from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Consolation finals will be at 6 p.m.; and championship finals at 7:30 p.m. Newark Jr. High is located at Newark Boulevard and Lafayette Avenue; and Newark Memorial is at 39375 Cedar Boulevard.
